LINDA WORKS WITH STUDENTS OF ALL AGES, FROM PRESCHOOL TO HIGH SCHOOL.

Jump-start your reading and writing programs with a school author visit. My programs support Ohio curriculum standards while exciting students about reading, writing, and publishing. I emphasize hard work, persistence, embracing constructive criticism, and recognizing each student's unique gifts. My programs challenge students to be readers, writers, and thinkers!

AND WHAT THE REAL EXPERTS SAY...

I learned that if you want the best stories in the states then you will have to read, read, read!

           --Emily

When we were with Mrs. Stanek I learned that if you do not know what to write think of silly stuff or stuff that happened.

           --Julia

What I learned is you work hard to get better.

          --Sheldon

I learned to send the book to publish. And then they send it back to you. And you have a book.

          --Hisham

SCHOOL VISITS:

PROGRAM 1: One-Day Visit with Linda

A Writer’s Life

I discuss the fun, exciting, and downright frustrating parts of life as a writer. I emphasize the importance of persistence in reaching a goal, and how accepting constructive criticism and being willing to rewrite work is key to success. Students see manuscripts in progress, along with editorial notes. I read some of my work, including some first drafts, and the much-improved published version. Students will also get a sneak peak at yet to be released books, and will have plenty of time for questions and answers.

45-60 minutes.

Author Walk-about

Great for connecting and getting questions answered, I roam the school, dropping in on up to 12 classes for 10 minutes each to answer questions about writing and publishing in a smaller group setting.

**$800 a day plus travel expenses**

PROGRAM 2: Two Authors for the Day

Double the authors, double the fun! Nancy Roe Pimm and I (both Columbus Zoo authors) will share our books, each in our own large-group presentation, then will lead writing workshops with smaller groups of students. After the lesson, classes will break up into small groups and create stories of their own. As students share their stories, they will see that many stories can come from a single idea.

**1,000 a day ($500 to Nancy and $500 to me) plus travel expenses**

Add a visit with Columbus Zoo animals for only $200 inside Franklin County, or $300 outside Franklin county for a truly unique and educational visit!
